Our Bangers and Mash Recipe

This is the Bangers and Mash that you wish you grew up on. Made with a perfect blend of tender sausage, paired with creamy potatoes topped with a mouthwatering brown gravy made with Guinness beer! You heard us right! 

Firstly the Potato Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • Mashed Potatoes: 
  • 4 Idaho Potatoes
  • 2 cloves of garlic 
  • 1/2 Cup of Milk
  • 1/2 Cup of Sour Cream
  • 1 Stick of butter
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Salt & Pepper to taste 

Directions:

Step 1: Place cut potatoes, onion, bay leaf, salt, and pepper in a large pot of cold water.

Step 2: Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

Step 3: Reduce heat to low. Simmer potatoes until fork-tender, about 20 -25 minutes.

Step 4: Drain the potatoes in a colander and discard bay leaf.

Step 5: Return the potatoes back into the pot with heat on low for about 30 seconds

Step 7: Mix in milk, sour cream and butter. Use a hand masher to mash potatoes.

Step 8: Garnish as desired

Banger Recipe: 

Ingredients:

  • 1 pack of Irish banger sausages
  • 1 yellow onion
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 stick of unsalted butter
  • 1 bottle of Guinness Beer
  • 2 oz of olive oil 
  • 16 oz of beef broth
  • 1/4 cup of all purpose flour
  • 4 tbs of Worcestershire Sauce
  • Spicy brown mustard
  • dried parsley to taste
  • ground thyme to taste
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  • Step 1: Heat olive oil in a skillet, add in the sausages until fully browned
  • Step 2: Add a slice of butter to the skillet, add onions and garlic until carnalized
  • Step 3: Add Guinness and stir mixture. Remove a few Tablespoons of the warm liquid and place them in a small bowl.
  • Step 4: Whisk the flour into the broth until smooth and add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, dry mustard, parsley, and thyme
  • Step 5: Place sausages back into skillet until ready to serve with potatoes.
