History Of Esposito's Finest Quality Sausage Products

For over 88 years and counting, Esposito’s Finest Quality Sausage has produced high-quality, authentic Italian sausages—bringing the tastes of home to so many families in the region. A true New Yorker, Esposito’s sausages have been manufactured in Hell’s Kitchen from the beginning; Old Country flavors with a New York flair.

We are proud to be part of the rich Italian heritage that makes New York the city we all know and love today, and honor that responsibility by always using the best quality ingredients in our products with many of the original, fragrant spice blends passed down from our Founder, Armand Esposito. Our sausages have been a part of countless family meal traditions for almost a century, and we’d love the chance to be a part of yours. Mangiamo!

Our Story

Speaking of family meal traditions, meat has been the Esposito family legacy since at least 1933. It was at this time that Giovanni Esposito and Sons, a fresh pork and poultry butcher shop was founded right in the same Hell’s Kitchen, New York City location where we still stand today. As the namesake probably indicates, Giovanni’s sons fell in love with the business (trust us, it’s hard not to) and worked their way through apprenticeships to master the art of butchering, developing a deep respect and understanding for the craft and importance of a quality product.

However, the butcher shop didn’t just provide fresh meat cuts, Giovanni and Sons also produced a popular Italian sausage that began attracting a lot of attention. Eventually, the demand for this sausage grew so large that the business split into two separate entities; a retail butcher shop and a wholesale manufacturer and distributor of sausage called Esposito’s Finest Quality Sausage products, run by Giovanni’s son, Armand. Folks lined up to make sure popular flavors like Sweet Italian Sausage and Hot Italian Sausage had a place at their Sunday dinner table.

Armand ran the business until his passing in 2000, at which time we partnered with new owners to ensure the same high quality, authentic sausage would continue feeding the mouths of hungry New Yorkers and live on in the family meal traditions that we know are so important. What can we say; we’re Italian! We know never to leave our family and friends hungry.

Our new management, now in place for more than 20 years, not only kept that promise and preserved the Esposito family tradition of original flavor and respect for the craft, but we've continued to innovate and develop new flavor profiles that capture many traditional ethnic flavors from around the globe, like our Fresh Chorizo, Bratwurst, Chicken Sausage, and Breakfast Sausage.

The legacy of Armand and the sanctity of the original recipes lives on in our products today, and many of these flavor profiles have not changed since our founding years. But we know Armand would have loved a big family meal with all of our new flavors as well.

Looking Ahead

As we reflect on our decades of business, we recognize that the Esposito’s Sausage brand has become synonymous with quality Italian sausage. Looking forward, our main goal is that this never changes. We strive to continue offering the delicious, quality Italian products that many have loved since the beginning, while also developing new and fresh flavor ideas that speak to the diversity of our New York City home.
